Be sure to unhook your garden hose from your outside hydrant before cold
weather in order to prevent a burst in the pipe within your home...

Here's why...
- When a Hose is left attached, water cannot drain properly from the faucet and as temperatures drop
below freezing the water turns to ice...
- Once the water turns to ice there is no relief from the pressure of expanding ice therefore the copper
tube eventually bursts!

**REMINDER**  This is a good time of the year to check your Septic
Filter and clean it before access to it is covered with snow and ice!

Picture (below, left) shows a dirty filter <without a Filter Sock> that would have spread the debris out to the
drain field if not cleaned or installed with sock!

This debris can plug holes in your drain field and cause contamination to the water table over time!

Picture (below, right) shows a filter with a Filter Sock installed on the inside which makes cleaning your
septic filter quick and easy!

Call us today to purchase a Sim/Tech Filter Sock for only $8.00 + tax (We can clean and install it for you too!)

Does your water bill seem higher than normal?

Have you ever heard the toilet running water when no one has used it?

Do you use cleaning tablets in your toilet tank?

**If you answer YES to any of these questions more than likely your
toilet has a slow leak costing you lots of money!!**
One simple test to perform in order to determine if a leak is present is to add a little food coloring to your toilet tank water and let sit for
30 minutes.  If food coloring appears in the bowl without flushing, there could be one of a few things wrong...

1) Over time or if you place
cleaning tablets in your toilet tank, the rubber seal wears away at the flapper which allows water to pass
2) Sometimes the flapper needs to be adjusted with the chain attached to the handle on the toilet
3) The
fill valve may be faulty or the water level may need to be adjusted to prevent water from going through the overflow tube
Alternative to putting tablets in your toilet tank would be to purchase a
Fluidmaster 8300 Flush N Sparkle Toilet Cleaning System.....The cleaning
chemicals never touch the water inside your tank, only the bowl!  One Cartridge
will last 3 months!  Purchase today for only
$16.00 + tax

WATER HEATER TIPS:
- If you have a power vented water heater (exhaust pipe vents through the
side of your house) be sure to check and make sure the opening is not
blocked by snow or some type of nest from an animal or bird.

- Be sure to keep stuff away from your water heater that could cause a fire
(either on top of the heater or next to it)

- You can call us and we can inspect your ANODE rod which helps to keep
the tank from rusting

- If the tank is leaking from bottom it will more than likely need to be
replaced as there is no way to patch water heater tanks
It would also be recommended to locate your main water shut off in the house in case the water heater or any
other fixture in the house that cannot be turned off separately starts to leak!

Dried Up Floor Drains /  P-Traps:

- Do you ever get that stinky sewer smell in your basement or laundry area?

**The cause of that smell would be a P-trap that dried up.  P-Traps hold water within
the sewer pipe to prevent the smell of sewer from coming up through a drain

**The solution is easy - just pour a gallon of water down the drain or site drain
(usually a drain near your furnace for water that condenses from the A/C unit)

**If this happens frequently add a tablespoon of vegetable oil (the oil floats on top of
the water and seals it against evaporation
)

**You are going to want to add water and/or oil to any drain that may not be
used often (ie. guest bathroom tub/showers, showers, etc.)
